Listen to noted Christian, Elwood McQuaid – If you accept the premise, even subconsciously that “the future is now,” you automatically exclude heaven, hell, the imminent (any moment) return of Christ, the Tribulation, and the Second Coming. You also have to toss out the Millennium, the new heaven and new earth, and eternity from your list of priorities.
Life is reduced to a plane where the only concerns are how to know myself, improve myself, and get the most for myself. And that is what life has been about for many evangelicals over the past decade.
The result is a disoriented church grappling with the deluge of problems created by spiritually disoriented people.
