It was August of 1988 when we most asked ourselves why God? Why us? We were in a van on the side of a mountain in the middle of a forest fire. sequoia National Park was burning, bears were crazed and attacking cars and all we had was a tire iron, a flash light, two infants and the orange glow of the fires . . .

A. Sin cuts off our signal from God Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]: (KJV) B. Sin grieves God the Holy spirit Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (KJV) C. Sin Sickens unrepentant saints 1 Corinthians 11:27-30 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink [this] cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this cause many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. (KJV) D. Sin Draws the Wrath of God Hebrews 12:5-6 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. (KJV) E. Sin Kills persistently sinning saints Revelation 2:22-23 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
