MATTHEW 6:9-13 LORD’S PRAYER SERIES THY WILL, p. 2

Last week we focused on the third petition of the Lord’s Prayer “Thy will be done”. *Luther called it the “fearful prayer”.

Why? Because we are calling on God to take over our lives… To let His will prevail… To serve and worship Him as joyfully as the hosts of heaven.

Well, the question arises: How on Earth Can I Do That?

How? By yielding to God’s will for you.

What is it?

(1) God has a will for your soul: Salvation 1 Tim. 2:3-4 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Are you born again? Are you sure? You can be today. No purgatory, no fear; no do a little more. Confidently saved! (2) God Has Will For Your Life: Surrender. An exchanged, surrendered, returned life. Rom. 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. All spiritual growth and reward hangs on this; Discipleship starts here; Consecration and renewal are bound together! Are you consecrated to Christ? Is He renewing and refreshing your life? Cleansing you with His blood? He wants to and can today! (3) God Has Will For Your Body: Sanctification. 1 Th. 4:3-7 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Sound impossible? Not if saved and consecrated. Are you pure, spotless, guiltless?

You can be today! White as new fallen snow. (4) God Has A Will For Your Mind: Saturated. Eph. 5:18/ Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. . Saturated with word of God. Are you saturated with Christ? Does He flow in and through you? You can know that filling today! (5) God Has Will For Your Money: Sacrificially Invested in Heaven. 1 Tim. 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. Are you shooting pool while the boat sinks, or throwing folks in lifeboats? Titanic. On 4/14/12 at 11:45 p.m. the ship struck the iceburg. Total of 2,227 people, lifeboats comfortably to hold 1,178 but all could have been packed in, yet 1,500 perished! 1st lifeboat lowered down at 12:45 a.m. – an hour to believe it was sinking! (6) God Has A Will For Your Attitude: Thankful/Hopeful. 1 Th. 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Well, God has a will for your:

soul – saved? life – spirit led body – sanctified mind – saturated
