Short Clip
Note that of all the 13 uses of Hell (gehenna) in God’s Word Jesus uses 12, and His earthly brother James uses the only other one. Jesus was not hesitant to speak of Hell, He is bold in His warnings.

Revelation Illustrates what Jesus Taught

Now, as we return to Revelation this morning, turn to Rev. 14:10-11. Here we see Jesus telling John to explain that both the fire and the punishment never end. It is not just an ever-burning Lake of Fire, it is also an ever-punishing place for all the un-forgiven, un-justified, un-saved sinners that will be cast there.

Revelation 14:10-11 (NKJV) he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

One final note on this comes in chapter 20. Look at v. 10. Those who die in their sins are faced forever with the wrath of God against those who refused His offering of taking their place.

Revelation 20:10-15 (NKJV) The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. 11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Now the Taste of Hell God Gives Humanity

This morning in Rev. 9:3-12, we get an unusual, and very disturbing glimpse of the unspeakable horrors that are to come, for each person who dies with their sin unjustified. Rev. 9 is what may be seen as a glimpse into, or even a taste of Hell.

Note first, the reminders of the horrors of unabated sufferings with me:
