The fools: everyone who doesn’t know God. The wise: everyone who does. So when you’re talking about wisdom you’re not talking about a subject, you’re talking about the subject. You’re talking about the most defining reality that can be declared about those who know God. They are the wise.
   The word “fool” appears in the book of Proverbs 42x, so there’s a lot in the book of Proverbs about fools.
   God’s Promise: There is then at the very outset of the book of Proverbs 1:23 this wonderful declaration that through all of human history wisdom will be crying out in the streets. There will always be the servants of God.
Only two kinds of people in the world: the “perishing” fools and the “being saved” wise. Proverbs 10:21 says, “Fools die for lack of understanding.” And the irony again, as we saw in Romans 1, is that they profess to be wise. Those who are perishing is a category of people. It is the universal category of the unconverted.(1 Cor. 1:18)
The second category in verse 18, “To us who are being saved.” There are only two kinds of people in the world. There are those who are in the category of the perishing and those who are in the category of the saved
